When NY ICE members protested outside Mayor Bloomberg's East Side residence, they were met with opposition by passing students who resorted to name calling and obscene gestures. Co-founder of the group, Joanna Marzullo, is used to this form of debate as shown in these photographs taken last year at a previous protest.
Although the group has been called racist by those who support open borders, its makeup is diverse and includes many legal immigrants. Here is its mission statement:
"New Yorkers for Immigration Control and Enforcement is completely open to all Americans and legal immigrants who believe in enforcement-ONLY immigration legislation. Our members are a diverse and politically heterogeneous assembly, united in our common struggle to protect our borders and nation. We believe that the problem of illegal mass migration can be solved through border control, attrition of the existing illegal alien population and the enforcement of immigration laws, employer sanctions. NY ICE is not owned by any partisan political group, corporation, or lobby, allowing us to represent the American legacy of free speech at its most untainted."
Further info on the group can be found on its website or contact Ms. Marzullo at progressrose@yahoo.com
